About The Position

Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Center - UW Medical Center – Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Care Coordinator. This role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with day shifts from Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Telework is possible occasionally after a successful probationary period. The position is conveniently located near public transportation and offers an opportunity to make a difference for patients and employees, with potential for career growth. The department specializes in assessing and treating all head and neck conditions, including otology and vestibular disorders, nasal obstruction, chronic sinusitis, tumors, and laryngeal conditions, requiring experienced specialists with diagnostic tools to create effective treatment plans.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a medically related or public relations field, AND Two (2) years experience in a tertiary patient care setting involving interaction with a variety of medical services, contact with patients and families, interaction with physicians, and proficiency in medical terminology; OR Equivalent education/experience

Responsibilities

  • Uses ability to triage medical information in the Heart Institute department within Surgical Specialties to a variety of Health Care Professionals using effective oral and written communication
  • Works independently under the general direction of a physician or their designee
  • Coordinate pre- and post-surgery diagnostic procedures, tests, and follow-up patient appointments
  • Act as a liaison between patients, consulting physician, referring physician, or outside agency to coordinate patient appointments, admission, anesthesia, and surgery.
  • Obtain all necessary medical records, diagnostic studies, pathology items, etc., that are needed for patient care
  • Demonstrates the ability to be organized and effectively prioritizes work tasks for the needs of the clinic.
  • Requests interpreters as appropriate for appointments, admissions, and surgery.
  • Collaborate with all members of the clinic team to ensure exceptional patient care and satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
