About The Position

As a Patient Care Coordinator you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the center. You will support the physicians and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic lifting: up to 30 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop and lift and walk without restrictions.
  • Requires the use of office equipment, such as computers, fax machines, telephones, and copiers
  • Requires computer-related activities for extended periods
  • Requires the ability to see, hear, speak, write, and key

Nice To Haves

  • At least one (1) year of medical assistant experience or medical secretary experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interviews and assesses patients and document basic medical history
  • Organize and schedule office appointments
  • Coordinate referrals including but not limited to schedule referral appointments for patients with medical oncology, radiation oncology, and plastic surgery specialists.
  • Manage surgery scheduling including but not limited to arranging surgical procedures for patients at the designated hospital.
  • Triage phone calls
  • Update and file medical records and insurance reports as applicable
  • Prepare Charts including but not limited to completing chart preparation tasks for the surgeon.
  • Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services as applicable
  • Check with patients and type of patient charts and other pertinent information
  • Assist during medical examinations and procedures
  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
  • Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
  • Obtain Authorizations including but not limited to securing necessary authorizations for surgical procedures and radiology services.
  • Handle Documentation including but not limited to prepare and process disability and FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) forms for patients
  • Completes other tasks and projects as assigned
