About The Position

Affinity Dental - Mayfield Common is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator / Registered Dental Assistant for a fixed-term contract position until December 16, 2027. While this is a dual role, the primary focus will be on Patient Care Coordinator responsibilities, supporting front-office operations, patient scheduling, billing, insurance processing, and overall patient experience. Clinical assistance will be provided as needed. The practice is a modern general dentistry facility committed to providing gentle dental care for families and staying at the forefront of dental technology.

Requirements

  • Registered and/or Certified Dental Assistant in good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory body
  • Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous dental assisting experience preferred
  • Dental administration or patient care coordinator experience preferred
  • Experience with dental software systems is preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Passionate about providing outstanding patient care and working collaboratively within a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming and positive experience for patients from arrival to departure
  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials while maintaining infection prevention and control standards
  • Assist dentists and hygienists during procedures while ensuring patient comfort and efficient workflow
  • Take dental radiographs and digital images as required
  • Provide patients with oral hygiene instructions and post-treatment education
  • Manage appointment scheduling, confirmations, recalls, and patient communications to optimize the schedule
  • Handle patient billing, insurance claims, payments, and fee inquiries in a professional manner
  • Process referrals, maintain accurate patient records, and ensure charts are up to date
  • Support daily administrative and clinical operations to ensure a smooth patient experience
  • Build strong patient relationships through empathy, professionalism, and effective communication
  • Follow all privacy, health and safety, and regulatory requirements
