Patient Care Associate - Medical ICU

About The Position
Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, the Patient Care Associate contributes to patient-centered care by performing selected day-to-day patient care activities and maintaining an environment that supports patient well-being. The role demonstrates unit- or area-designated competencies and interacts with patients in consideration of their developmental, age-specific, cultural, and spiritual preferences. The position is in the Medical ICU and is scheduled for day shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., totaling 72 hours bi-weekly.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant Certification program or equivalent.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Nice To Haves
- At least six months of recent experience as a Nurse Assistant in an acute care setting.
- Completion of a phlebotomy course or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient care interventions delegated by the RN to help identify and attain treatment goals.
- Provide compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
- Assist patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing, or exercising.
- Comply with health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment and protect patients and employees by following infection-control, hazardous-waste, and other policies and protocols.
