About The Position

As a Patient Care Associate (PCA), you'll play an important role in supporting patients, assisting the nursing team, and helping the unit run smoothly. Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Previous clerical experience (preferably in a healthcare setting)
- Ability to read and write at level 8, as documented on "Invest," the hospital's Employee Learning Laboratory software.
- An ability to set appropriate priorities and organize workflow.
- An ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail during frequent interruptions.
- Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to interface with support and professional staff and patients.
Nice To Haves
- Medical terminology is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document patient vital signs
- Assist patients with mobility and activities of daily living
- Perform EKGs, blood draws, glucometer testing, and specimen collection after training
- Support admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Assist with newborn baths as appropriate
- Restock supplies, including infant and postpartum care items
- Prepare patient rooms and maintain a clean, safe environment
- Respond to patient needs and communicate changes to the nursing team
- Support emergency situations by assisting with hemorrhage carts and obtaining blood products when needed
- Collaborate closely with nurses and the interdisciplinary care team
