About The Position

Glens Falls Hospital is looking for students, healthcare workers, and entry level candidates with a background or interest in the healthcare field to join our team as a Patient Care Associate (PCA). If you are an individual who loves caring for and supporting others, this is a perfect position for you! Come grow your skills in healthcare and gain clinical experience working directly with patients! As a Telemetry PCA, you'll care for adult patients requiring continuous cardiac and physiological monitoring for a variety of acute medical, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions. You'll collaborate with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care while utilizing advanced telemetry technology to monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and support timely clinical interventions. This dynamic unit offers the opportunity to strengthen your critical-thinking skills while caring for a diverse and medically complex patient population.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for caring and supporting others
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (can be earned after hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Patient care experience (preferred, not required)
  • Medical terminology knowledge (a helpful plus)

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of first-level patient care including promoting hygiene and mobility
  • Measure and record patients’ vitals such as temperature and blood pressure
  • Responds to patient/family needs and requests
  • May assist and support physicians/nurses during routine procedures and treatments
  • Report all observations, changes in patient condition to responsible RN for timely, appropriate evaluation and response
  • Prepare hospital rooms
  • Change patients’ bed sheets, pillows and turning or repositioning patients in their beds
  • Deliver meals to patients and assist with feeding
  • Help patients dress and/or assist with toileting needs
  • Bathe patients
  • Listen to patients’ concerns, record them and report them to a nurse
  • Patient companion when needed
