About The Position

Under the direction of an RN or LPN, the Patient Care Associate assists in individualized patient care to help patients achieve their highest level of wellness. The role works cooperatively with others as part of a team and recognizes the importance of group goals. It performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care.

In Missouri, candidates without previous experience must complete Mercy’s 175-hour training program, which meets Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program is completed during new-hire orientation and must be finished within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position, in accordance with state guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC, enrollment in a healthcare career program through a high school curriculum, and/or current employment as a Mercy co-worker.
• No previous experience is required.
• In Missouri, candidates without previous experience must complete a required 175-hour training program within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position.
• BLS certification is required within one month of hire.
• PCA competencies must be completed within three months of hire.
• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods during each shift.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
