About The Position

Under the supervision of the Unit Director or as directed by the Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant performs various patient care activities and related services to meet patients’ needs and comfort in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures. The patient population may include newborns, toddlers, adolescents, adults, and elderly patients. This is a full-time position in the Nursing Pool, scheduled for a 0.9K night shift from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., working 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week. After hire, PCA competencies are maintained through skills labs, observation, written exams, and other methods.

Requirements

High school diploma preferred but not required.
Ability to speak and read, and basic math skills.
Completion of an approved State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) training curriculum and passing the written/oral and clinical Nurse Aide competency tests; or completion of the SRMC Patient Care Assistant training course; or completion of a Medical Assistant curriculum; or completion of an EMT program; or completion of the first semester of the physical assessment course in a Nursing Program; or completion of an LPN training program.
Must have or obtain Basic Cardiac Life Support certification and maintain current certification.
