About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is a key member of the clinical care team on the Medical Acute team at Scripps Mercy San Diego Hospital. The PCA provides excellent service to patients, assists with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and helps maintain a safe, organized patient environment. The PCA assists with patient care within the permitted scope and under the direction of a clinician. The role also supports the unit with patient logistics, clerical tasks, equipment and supply duties, and charge reconciliation. This is a full-time position of 72 hours per pay period, working 12-hour night shifts on variable days, including weekends and holidays. The position is located at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego in Hillcrest.

Requirements

One year of recent experience working under the license of a licensed healthcare provider, or current enrollment in or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school, or current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals.
Ability to speak, read, and follow instructions in English.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a service aptitude.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care provider.

Nice To Haves

CNA certification.
At least 6 months of CNA experience is preferred.
