About The Position

Scripps Health is hiring a Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego in the Hillcrest area. This is a full-time, benefited position on the night shift, working 2200–0630, including every other weekend and rotating holidays. Initial training takes place on day shift, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, until training is completed.

The CLS joins a collaborative laboratory team serving central and downtown San Diego. The hospital is a Level I Trauma Center with a Level III NICU. The role is that of a CLS generalist, rotating across laboratory benches and processing and analyzing a high volume of diverse specimens.

The position may be eligible for up to $10,000 in new-hire retention incentives and up to $3,000 in relocation incentives for candidates moving from 100 or more miles away. Hiring incentives are not available to internal candidates, rehires who left Scripps less than three years ago, or candidates with less than one year of experience. Retention-incentive eligibility requires remaining in the original hired FTE status and shift, department or specialty, and job title. Transfers to other locations are reviewed case by case and may result in forfeiture of the remaining incentive unless the offer letter specifies otherwise.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or a degree acceptable by California Laboratory Field Services for application as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Limited License.
• CDPH licensure: MTA (Clinical Laboratory Scientist).

Nice To Haves

• One year of equivalent full-time experience in a clinical laboratory.
• ASCP certification or state-required equivalent.
