Patient Care Assistant – Surgical Services Benefit Eligible – PCA
About The Position
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in Surgical Services assists patient care unit staff with delegated direct and indirect patient-care tasks that support nursing practice. The PCA works under the direct supervision of a registered nurse and performs designated activities that are legally within the scope of unlicensed nursing personnel. The role is available at either the Saint Marys Hospital or Rochester Methodist Hospital campus; schedules will be discussed during the interview process. CNA skills and responsibilities closely align with those of a PCA and Patient Care Technician (PCT), making the position suitable for candidates with CNA experience.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old before the start date.
- Must be able to read, write, communicate, and understand English.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal directions.
- Must maintain current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; certification may be included in orientation for candidates who do not already have it.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of 12 college credits, or a high school diploma/GED with successful completion of Nursing Assistant training or equivalent, is preferred.
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations in a patient-care setting.
- CNA experience.
