About The Position

Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is hiring a Patient Care Assistant to provide basic patient care in a healthcare setting. Care is delegated and supervised by an RN. The role supports patients with clinical monitoring and activities of daily living, helps maintain clean and safe care areas, supports nursing and physician staff, and documents care according to unit standards.

The posting describes the team as a 28-bed Medical Telemetry unit serving a high-acuity patient population with diverse clinical needs, including cardiac and respiratory conditions, post-surgical recovery, bedside hemodialysis, and other medical conditions.

Requirements

• High school diploma preferred.
• Nursing Assistant Certificate preferred.
• BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Handle with Care certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output accurately.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, and ambulation.
• Observe and promptly report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Keep patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
• Manage the tech desk and support nursing and physician staff and department throughput.
• Document care and activities according to unit standards.
• Participate in performance improvement and required education.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
