About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) works collaboratively to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. The PCA assists patients with hygiene and activities of daily living and supports quality patient care. This is a part-time Emergency Department position scheduled for 48 hours per pay period, from 11 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Weekends and holidays are scheduled in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, or one of the following: six months of direct Patient Care Assistant or Nurse Tech experience; completion of at least one clinical rotation in nursing school; or enrollment in the Trinity Health Muskegon PCA program.
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.
• Commitment to the organization's philosophy, values, mission, and vision.

Responsibilities

• Respond to patient call lights and provide assistance, or assist patients through rounding.
• Provide or assist patients with personal hygiene, including showers, oral hygiene, and dressing or undressing.
• Transport patients as needed for procedures, transfers, or discharge.
• Maintain a clean and uncluttered environment in patient rooms.
