About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant works in the Telemetry department at Dallas Medical Center in Farmers Branch, Texas, on the day shift. The role supports patient care and assists nurses by helping patients with daily activities, mobility, feeding, and vital signs; observing and reporting changes in patient condition; maintaining supplies; assisting with wound care under an RN’s direction; and keeping the environment clean and safe. The position also includes transporting patients within the hospital.

Requirements

• State-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• Current phlebotomy certification upon hire.
• Current EKG certification upon hire.
• At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
• Help patients with mobility, turning, repositioning, and transfers to prevent skin breakdown.
• Feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake and output.
• Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
• Observe patients and report changes in their condition to nurses.
• Assist with wound care under the direction of an RN.
• Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms.
• Keep the environment clean and safe.
• Assist with transporting patients within the hospital.
