Patient Care Assistant
About The Position
Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine. The system includes more than 40 primary and specialty care locations, Central Maine Medical Center, Bridgton Hospital, Rumford Hospital, and the Maine College of Health Professions. The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients, and helps maintain a safe environment. The position works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.
Requirements
- Current BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintained as current.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), state-approved certification required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Current phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
- Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
- At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office, preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Provide basic nursing care to all patients.
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.
