About The Position

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) works on the 28-bed Medical Telemetry unit at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville, Arkansas. The unit provides continuous monitoring for a high-acuity patient population with varied clinical needs, including complex cardiac and respiratory conditions, post-surgical recovery, bedside hemodialysis, and other medical conditions. The PCA performs basic patient care delegated and supervised by an RN, supporting safe, high-quality care and the unit’s daily operations. This is a full-time role with a 3 x 12 shift schedule; shifts vary, and weekends may vary.

Requirements

• BLS certification.
• High school diploma preferred.
• Nursing Assistant Certificate preferred.
• Handle with Care certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, and ambulation.
• Observe and promptly report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Keep patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and appropriately stocked.
• Manage the tech desk and support nursing and physician staff and department throughput.
• Document care and activities according to unit standards.
• Participate in performance improvement and required education.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
