About The Position

This position works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director, providing personal care to patients and maintaining their environment. Responsibilities include performing specified tasks where competency is validated, such as simple wound care, EKGs, peripheral IV removal, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles. The position also focuses on promoting a safe work environment and incorporating national patient safety initiatives.

Requirements

  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire
  • Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP)
  • In lieu of CNA certification, will accept EMT-B (Basic) from the Virginia Department of Health Professions or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, or Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA), or Medical Assistant Program Graduate, or Currently enrolled in LPN or RN diploma or degree program with at least 80 clinical hours completed.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year Prior health care experience in hospital setting

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN. This may include the following procedures dependent upon unit/facility competency requirements vital signs, ice application, compresses, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection, etc.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be able to take direction from the charge nurse to help admit, discharge, or transfer patients in a timely and efficient manner.
