About The Position

Visiting Angels of Abilene is hiring a Patient Care Aide - PCA to support senior adults and home-care clients throughout the Big Country area, including Sagerton, Stamford, and Hamlin. The role helps clients remain or recover at home with dignity. Client visits vary, and aides provide personal care, household assistance, medication reminders, meal support, mobility assistance, companionship, and appropriate response and reporting in medical emergencies. Shift options include part-time, 8-hour, 10-hour, and 12-hour shifts, PRN, and short shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
A heart for vulnerable people and meaningful companionship.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, according to their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, attending doctor visits, and taking walks.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances.
