About The Position

The Patient Billing and Customer Service Specialist is responsible for requesting payment and collecting overdue balances from patients. This role involves contacting patients via phone or mail to request payment, review account details, answer patient questions, and set up alternative pay plans if necessary. The specialist will also maintain patient account records and resolve third-party payer issues.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of medical office experience
  • 1+ year of experience working with patients in a medical setting
  • Knowledge of Explanation of Benefits (EOB’s) and understanding of copays, coinsurance, and deductibles

Responsibilities

  • Contact patients via phone, email, and/or written correspondence to discuss outstanding balances and payment arrangements
  • Investigate billing & payment discrepancies, contacting insurance companies when necessary to review eligibility and benefits
