About The Position

Receiving individual direction from the Patient Assistance Program Manager, the Patient Assistance Associate will serve as a key team member responsible for the daily duties and responsibilities within the specialty patient assistance program. He/she will assist in the communication between members, brokers, HR, and their direct report, as necessary to complete the patient assistance process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) or more years of experience in pharmacy, healthcare, insurance, customer service, patient/member support, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and follow-ups
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with patients/members, healthcare providers, pharmacies, and manufacturer programs
  • Experience working with confidential health information
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document and maintain patient/member information
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)
  • Experience working with Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs), manufacturer assistance programs, copay assistance, or bridge programs
  • Experience working with specialty medications or specialty pharmacy
  • Experience communicating with pharmaceutical manufacturers, prescriber offices, pharmacies, or patients/members
  • Familiarity with pharmacy terminology, prescription benefits, and medication access processes
  • Experience with pharmacy benefit management (PBM) or health plan operations

Responsibilities

  • Participates in collaboration with the pharmacy team and the overall benefits organization to facilitate the reduction of pharmaceutical cost while maintaining high levels of quality, service, and safety through patient assistance programs.
  • Contributes in the maintaining of organized/accurate database reporting regarding Patient Assistance and Medication Assistance Programs.
  • Clearly relays communication regarding program requirements and timelines with pharmacy team members, plans and plan members.
  • Develops and maintains internal relationships (benefits, pharmacy, accounting, marketing, and legal) and external relationships (wholesalers, manufacturers, employee benefit pharmacy benefits managers (PBMs), and third-party administrator vendors) as needed.
  • Participates in ongoing training, education, and communication required for Pharmaceutical Patient Assistance Programs at the organization.
  • Assists superiors with additional assigned projects.
