About The Position

Patient Advocate Meritus Medical Center | Hagerstown, MD Full-Time | 80 Hours Bi-Weekly | Day Shift Benefits Eligible Make a Difference in the Patient Experience Meritus Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, resourceful, and customer-focused Patient Advocate to serve as a trusted liaison between patients, families, healthcare providers, and hospital leadership. In this vital role, you will help patients navigate their healthcare journey, address concerns, facilitate resolutions, and ensure every patient feels heard, respected, and supported. As a Patient Advocate, you will champion patient-centered care by partnering with physicians, staff, and leadership to enhance the overall patient experience while promoting service excellence, quality, safety, and satisfaction across the health system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a healthcare setting with significant direct public or patient interaction.
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and patient-centered care.
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, healthcare providers, and administration.
  • Investigate and address patient concerns with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with leadership and care teams to facilitate timely resolution of issues.
  • Advocate for patients and families as they navigate the healthcare system.
  • Support service excellence, risk management, quality, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Educate and serve as a resource for departments throughout the organization.
  • Help drive continuous improvement in the patient experience across the health system.
