About The Position

Full-Time Patient Accounts Specialist Opportunity! Join the expanding team in our new state of the art 132 bed behavioral health facility! Prairie St. John's has been providing services for children, adolescents, and adults to address behavioral health and substance use challenges since 1997. Prairie offers inpatient hospitalization, day treatment, and intensive outpatient services. Accredited by The Joint Commission, we are the largest, freestanding behavioral health facility in the region. More than 4,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Prairie St. John's. The Patient Accounts Specialist generates bills for patient stays, follows up on submitted claims for reimbursement, works denied claims, and sets up payment plans with patients. The Patient Accounts Specialist will be scheduled 40 hours per week.

Requirements

1 year of medical accounts receivable experience.
Good communication and relationship skills
Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities

Serves as the primary collector for all types of insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, Champus, HIS, Holds, Rule 25, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medica.
Performs follow-up on all submitted claims for reimbursement. Follows up with insurance company or third party payer to ensure correct and timely processing of claims and proper payment of claims
Coordinates third party denial information, works denials through appeals process. Documents in AR patient account notes
Generates bills for charges by downloading, entering and adjusting data
Provides assistance and information to co-workers and patients regarding patient information, insurance claim status, and patient self-pay responsibilities.
Creates reports as requested.
