About The Position

The Patient Account Representative plays a key role in efficiently coordinating the timely collection of patient out-of-pocket expenses to ensure smooth financial operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of experience in hospital billing and collections.
  • Proven experience collaborating with third-party payors, patients, and families.
  • Strong interpersonal skills requiring poise, professionalism, tact, and diplomacy in all interactions.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, apply common sense, and effectively manage ambiguous situations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality when engaging with patients, families, visitors, referral sources, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients at admission with empathy to clearly explain financial responsibilities and collect payments promptly.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefit coverage with accuracy.
  • Support patients in setting up manageable payment plans and accessing financial assistance programs.
  • Coordinate and communicate outstanding patient balances post-discharge to the billing vendor, ensuring appropriate follow-up and collection efforts.
  • Maintain thorough and precise documentation within patient account systems.
  • Submit insurance claims, monitor their status, and proactively follow up to ensure timely reimbursement.
