About The Position

Under general supervision of the Business Office Manager, this role contributes to the processing of various tasks required to achieve department goals and objectives. The position adheres to all policies and procedures documented in the Connally Memorial Medical Center policy and procedure manual. The role involves handling incoming calls, processing claims, and collaborating with other departments to resolve issues impacting departmental/organizational goals and patient care delivery. It also requires fiscal accountability for department resources and providing excellent customer service to hospital personnel.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 2 years of hospital commercial collection experience, resulting in maximum reimbursement.
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
  • Great customer service skills are a must.
  • Computer literate, knowledge of, or ability to learn hospital software is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of THMP Medicare/Medicaid system and insurance payor guidelines is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Answer and distribute all incoming calls.
  • File primary and secondary claims and perform follow-up with accuracy, completeness, and timeliness, paying attention to Medicaid, Medicare, and workers' compensation regulations.
  • Make calls to insurance companies for payment status, claim status, and appeal status.
  • Collaborate with other departments to create systems and problem-solve ongoing issues that impact departmental/organizational goals and/or patient care delivery.
  • Demonstrate fiscal accountability for department resources and the ability to achieve outcomes within allocated resources.
  • Provide customer service to hospital personnel in a timely, professional manner.
  • Maintain open communication using the appropriate chain of command regarding issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pricing, hospital, and patient information at all times.
  • Display a 'can do' attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer service program.
