Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Supervisor to join their team. The facility includes a 24-hour Emergency Department, multiple OR rooms, cardiac catheterization labs, day surgery rooms, acute care beds, and cardiac critical care rooms. Requirements

  • Minimum education requirement: High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in the following areas: Supervising, Patient Registration, Customer Service in a healthcare setting, and Office related experience.
  • Must be able to multi-task
  • Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding, medical terminology.
  • Manage time and workload efficiently
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate willingness to adjust to change
  • Demonstrate ability to handle pressure and remain calm in busy situations
  • Demonstrate commitment to work and consistent job performance
  • Knowledge of organization and departmental policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of hospital based-computer systems and applications
  • Knowledge of government reimbursement regulations and requirements
  • Skill in planning, organizing, delegating and supervising
  • Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem solving
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, co-workers, patients, public and external agencies
  • Ability to be diplomatic and use constructive problem solving techniques when confronting difficult people and/or situations

  • Associate’s degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Together with the Revenue Management Director, review and revise department policies annually.
  • Direct the daily operations of direct staff under moderate supervision.
  • Ensure proper documentation is being utilized in accordance to hospital, HIPAA and governmental regulations.
  • Verify surgical orders for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards before procedures.
  • Conduct audits of patient registrations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures relative to patient access.
  • Assist in answering patient questions about hospital procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA Privacy Regulations, Transactions and Code Sets Regulations and assist in preparing for the implementation of HIPAA Security Regulations.
  • Responsible to properly train employees within the respective areas of supervisory responsibility.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing calls pertaining to patient issues.
