About The Position

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Patient Access Supervisor for the Revenue Cycle Department. The role provides operational leadership and oversight for insurance verification, authorization, and HMO-related workflows that support timely patient access, accurate financial clearance, and optimal reimbursement. The Supervisor connects Patient Access, clinical teams, insurance companies, and Revenue Cycle partners to identify, communicate, and resolve complex issues efficiently. The Supervisor oversees daily operations, monitors workflow performance, addresses payer and authorization barriers, and ensures staff have the guidance and resources to perform effectively. The role requires strong knowledge of insurance requirements, authorization processes, HMO workflows, and revenue cycle workflows across the front, middle, and back ends, as well as the ability to interpret payer guidelines and translate them into consistent operational practices. Through hands-on leadership, problem-solving, staff coaching, and cross-functional collaboration, the Supervisor builds effective relationships with clinicians, staff, payers, and Revenue Cycle stakeholders. The position identifies opportunities to improve workflows, reduce authorization delays, prevent avoidable denials and write-offs, and support timely reimbursement while maintaining a patient-centered approach. Patient Access processes must be accurate, efficient, compliant, and aligned with organizational revenue cycle goals. This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position on the day shift, Monday through Friday, with a flexible remote work location and an expectation to work onsite when needed. The department is Revenue Cycle, and the role is non-union.
