The Patient Access Specialist reflects the mission, vision, and values of NMHC, adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. This role involves practicing the Patients First philosophy, adhering to high standards of customer service, and maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA regulations. The specialist will provide exceptional customer service, correctly identify and collect patient demographic information, and interact with various hospital departments and physicians' offices to schedule and direct patients. They will also perform medical necessity checks, inform patients of financial account issues, complete out-of-pocket estimations, and provide training and education as needed. Efficient management of work schedule, completion of tasks on time, and cross-training between various departments are expected. Participation in Quality Assurance reviews, use of effective service recovery skills, and adherence to all department policies and compliance requirements are also key aspects of this role. The specialist must avoid putting patients in financial or safety risk.
