About The Position

The Patient Access Specialist greets, directs, and assists patients and visitors professionally, courteously, and efficiently throughout their visit. The role schedules and registers patients, accurately collects required information, determines eligibility for services, and counsels patients about payment policies while monitoring and collecting amounts due. The specialist manages the waiting room atmosphere, keeps patients informed about wait times, and helps ensure the waiting area is comfortable and clean.

Requirements

• Ability to provide strong customer service to a complex patient population.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to navigate multiple computer software programs, including an EHR and Microsoft Office products, and use a scanner, calculator, and multi-line telephone.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a receptionist in a medical, dental, or social services setting.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Basic bookkeeping skills, including cash handling, posting charges, and deposits.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish.
