About The Position

The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for registering and admitting patients, verifying insurance and demographic information, and ensuring a smooth and efficient check-in process. This role supports emergency room and switchboard operations while providing excellent customer service and performing various administrative duties.

Requirements

  • High School graduate with related subjects in general business.
  • Computer knowledge
  • Medical terminology.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • General office experience preferably with insurance claims knowledge.
  • Ability to operate various office machines/ computers
  • Be able to work independently and make reasonable decisions while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and simply with every customer and co-worker.
  • Ability to display a positive, courteous and friendly attitude toward all contacts.
  • Ability to build good relationships with others based upon a sustained effort of mutual support toward common goals.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, reasoning and concentration to detail and to take personal accountability for all actions in carrying out job duties.
  • Is customer focused and committed to Quality and Process Improvement with a strong desire to provide service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Register all patients upon arrival and accurately collect and verify demographic and insurance information.
  • Provide excellent customer service while addressing patient questions and concerns in person and over the phone.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and insurance requirements during the registration and admission process.
  • Relieves cashier and PBX operator as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
