About The Position

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is hiring a Patient Access Representative to provide timely and accurate patient registration. The representative interviews patients to collect pertinent account information, verifies insurance, calculates and collects patient liability amounts, and obtains all necessary treatment signatures. The role also answers questions and explains policies, checks physician orders and attaches them to the appropriate patient record, prepares paperwork for distribution to the relevant unit or department, and escorts patients or refers them to an available escort as needed.

The position follows instructions from senior staff and includes other job-related duties as assigned. Adventist Health requires associates to receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply. Adventist Health participates in E-Verify.

Requirements

• High school education, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
• Associate's or technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients in a timely and accurate manner.
• Interview patients to obtain pertinent account information.
• Verify insurance and calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
• Obtain all necessary signatures for treatment.
• Answer patient questions and clearly explain policies.
• Check physician orders and attach them to the appropriate patient medical record to ensure patients receive the appropriate tests.
• Select the correct health plan and research insurance information to ensure accuracy.
• Enter authorization information accurately as needed.
• Print and collate paperwork for distribution to the appropriate unit or department.
• Escort patients to their area or refer them to an available escort as needed.
• Follow guidelines and instructions from senior staff.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
