About The Position

The Emergency Department Patient Access Representative (PAR) provides customer-service coverage in Asante emergency department locations and is responsible for the successful financial outcomes of patient services. The role thoroughly and accurately explains compliance and regulatory documents that Asante must present to patients, while maintaining patient relations, customer satisfaction, and Asante’s financial solvency. The position performs duties under the general supervision of the Patient Access Supervisor. Candidates may be considered at either the ED Patient Access Rep 1 or ED Patient Access Rep 2 level, with level-specific requirements and wages.

Requirements

• For ED Patient Access Rep 1: Previous patient registration experience, or related customer service, administrative, and/or data entry experience.
• For ED Patient Access Rep 2: Minimum one year of experience with 2,080 fulfilled hours in the Patient Access Rep 1 role or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Healthcare Access Associate certification through the National Association of Healthcare Access Management is preferred for both levels.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments.
• Register patients and verify insurance.
• Provide telephone coverage and perform data entry.
• File protected health information (PHI).
• Handle patient referrals and point-of-service collections.
• Thoroughly and accurately describe compliance and regulatory documents to patients.
• Maintain patient relations and customer satisfaction while supporting successful financial outcomes for patient services.
