About The Position

Shriners Children’s is seeking a full-time Patient Access Representative to join their team in Portland. This organization is recognized for its commitment to patient care, education, and research, providing specialized care to children up to age 18 regardless of their family's financial situation. The Patient Access Representative will be responsible for greeting and registering patients, managing insurance information, scheduling appointments, assembling patient charts, and ensuring all necessary legal documentation is obtained. The role also involves scanning documents into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), maintaining worklists, and assisting with insurance authorizations and financial counseling.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
2 years Patient access, insurance verification
2 years Computer applications, general office clerical skills

Responsibilities

Greets and accurately directs patients/families presenting for appointments and treatment.
Accurately enters/updates patient information into computer system according to current applicable procedure at the time of registration.
Accurately enters and updates patient’s insurance information in computer system according to current applicable procedure at the time of registration.
Accurately prepare and secure signatures on required treatment and billing authorization forms. Facilitate and assist with other legal documents as necessary according to current procedure/guidelines.
Assists as needed with insurance authorization process and in financial counseling functions of Shriners Hospital according to current applicable procedure/guidelines.
Maintains computer proficiency to effectively use computer equipment and programs currently in use for this position.
Scans documents in EMR.
Maintains Incomplete Verification Worklist in EMR.
