About The Position

This is a Full-Time Night Position. The Patient Access Representative greets patients in person and on the phone in a friendly and courteous manner, obtains and verifies patient information, and answers and directs incoming calls. They accurately admit/register patients for all services performed at MRH, collect co-pays and other payments at the time of service as needed, and process all returned mail. This role acts as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and the care team, and participates in interdepartmental process improvements and evaluation efforts. The representative also serves as an internal consultant and educator to hospital staff in their area of expertise, striving to ensure continual compliance with Patient Access Department policies and procedures. They can identify and access the system to report abuse to employees and/or patients, establish a good rapport and working relationship with other departments, and coordinate insurance, preauthorization, benefits verification, and pre-registration activities. The role requires prioritizing workload, completing assignments within allotted time, and working as a team with co-workers. Assistance in the orientation of new employees is expected, and proficiency in duties for both outpatient and Emergency Departments is necessary. Cross-training in other departments as needed, educating patients for financial assistance, and completing miscellaneous reports are also part of the responsibilities. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
