Join our team as a Patient Access Representative, where you will serve as the first point of contact for our patients, setting the tone for their care experience across the entire hospital system. You will ensure a seamless transition for every individual entering our facility—whether they are arriving for a scheduled procedure, diagnostic testing, or emergency care. Hospital Patient Access consists of staff that are responsible for three locations: 1) Front Desk Admissions – admits for radiology, lab, outpatient services and inpatient services 2) Surgical Admissions – admits for surgery and dietician services as well as assisting with scheduling and other duties; 3) Emergency Services Admissions – admits for the emergency room, handles physician call services and coordinates with multiple departments. Hospital Access Services is open 24/7, 365 days a year in support of our other departments. Hospital Patient Access is part of our Revenue Cycle Team – consisting of Admissions, Hospital Billing, Clinic Billing, Hospital Coding, Clinic Coding and Medical Records. This department interacts at a high level to offer customer service to our patients as well as other departments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles that relate to the position.
  • Aptitude in verbal and written communication, including ability to communicate with persons in all age groups.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in customer service, data entry, and operating a multi-line phone system preferred.
  • Possession of United States proof of citizenship or right to work in the United States.
  • Possession of a driver license or analogous identification.
  • Willingness to participate in Hospital orientation and educational in-service.

Responsibilities

  • Completing registration of patients for inpatient and out-patient services.
  • Answering multi-line telephones.
  • Receiving and distribution of physician calls.
  • Maintaining quality customer service and patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Performing other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
