The Patient Access Representative assists patients and staff with scheduling, pre-registration, and registration for all services at Adena Health System. They gather information via interviews in person, by phone, or through electronic systems like Meditech or eCW. This includes demographic, insurance, and financial information, ensuring correct precertification/authorization for billing and collecting patient accounts. The role involves verifying insurance coverage, running estimates for patient visits, obtaining necessary signatures and documents, and scanning them into document imaging. Additionally, they enter diagnosis and test information, check orders for completeness and medical necessity, and interact with clinicians to ensure timely patient care. The position requires self-driven individuals who can multitask, prioritize, and possess strong communication skills for effective interaction with others. Responsibilities

  • Assists patients, clinic staff, or other clinical staff to schedule, pre-register, and register for all services at Adena Health System.
  • Uses established interviewing techniques to gather information in person, by accessing Meditech or eCW, or by phone.
  • Gathers demographic information, insurance, financial information, ensuring correct precert/authorization, and other information from patients or their representatives required for billing and collecting patient accounts.
  • Uses various electronic tools to ensure the patient's insurance coverage is active.
  • Runs an estimate on each patient at each visit or over the phone when pre-registering.
  • Obtains required signatures and documents at the time of registration and scans them into document imaging.
  • Enters diagnosis, tests, and checks orders for completeness and medical necessity.
  • Interacts with clinicians in the ER, outpatient, and clinics to ensure patient care is delivered in a timely manner.
  • Answers all incoming calls on the hospital switchboard and transfers as appropriate (at AGMC).
  • Contributes to achieving department goals.
