About The Position

The Patient Access Representative III creates the first impression of the organization's services for patients, families, and other external customers. The role performs pre-arrival duties related to pre-registration and financial clearance for outpatient and inpatient services. It collects accurate demographic and financial information to support payment of hospital bills by a third-party payer or patient, verifies insurance eligibility, coordinates referrals, and secures authorizations. The representative serves as the primary liaison for patients receiving professional and hospital services at ECU Health.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or higher.
• 2 to 4 years of registration, scheduling, and insurance authorization experience within a healthcare setting.
• 5 years of customer service experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Detail orientation, organization, and multitasking skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience with EPIC and medical office workflows.
• Insurance verification experience.
