About The Position

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Patient Access is hiring a full-time, on-site Patient Access Representative 1 in Hollywood, Florida. The role registers patients for clinical services by obtaining pertinent information, verifying insurance benefits, and collecting payments. The representative performs registration and appointment-related tasks, explains required forms and policies to patients, and responds to telephone inquiries. Duties may be expanded as necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification, or license.
At least 1 year of relevant experience.
Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a team environment.
Proficiency with office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Appropriate combinations of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

Perform full patient registration and verify insurance and the accuracy of patient information.
Obtain copies of insurance cards, driver’s licenses, and applicable referrals.
Explain Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA to patients and obtain signed forms.
Instruct patients to complete questionnaires required by the physician.
Schedule follow-up appointments, cancel and edit appointments, and accurately record no-show patients.
Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the designated area.
Answer telephone calls, respond to questions and inquiries, or transfer calls when appropriate.
Follow University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
