Primarily responsible for providing effective customer service for all internal and external customers by utilizing excellent, in-depth knowledge of hospital admissions and outpatient services. Demonstrates competencies in line with the five core values that are the foundation of all activities performed by employees in order to achieve the Mission of Artesia General Hospital. The role involves interviewing patients to obtain insurance benefits, proof of coverage, and pre-certification/authorization for various patient types. It also includes registering outpatients, processing inpatient admissions, preparing necessary documentation, accepting patient payments, and assisting patients and visitors. Additionally, the role involves advising patients on insurance coverage, estimating patient responsibility, and informing them of available assistance sources or referring them to a financial counselor. Obtaining verification of insurance coverage and benefits from third-party payers is also a key function. The role requires basic computer knowledge, understanding of medical terminology, and good typing skills. It also necessitates identifying age-specific patient needs and maintaining confidentiality and security of information. Cooperation in Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety activities is expected. The work environment involves daily patient contact, with potential exposure to blood or other body fluids.
