About The Position

The Patient Access Registrar works in the Emergency Department, welcoming and assisting patients and families at check-in to help ensure a positive experience. The role collects and verifies demographic and insurance information and required signatures, explains patient liabilities, and obtains necessary authorizations. It supports timely service delivery and may include guiding or escorting patients and visitors within the facility. Interactions should reflect empathy, accuracy, and respect for patient confidentiality. The schedule is 11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m. on rotating nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• High school diploma required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• At least one year of experience in healthcare or customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients upon arrival.
• Confirm insurance, benefits, and patient details.
• Collect co-pays, signatures, and necessary documentation.
• Provide support and directions to patients and visitors.
• Explain patient liabilities and obtain necessary authorizations.
• Guide or escort patients and visitors within the facility when needed.
• Maintain empathy, accuracy, and respect for patient confidentiality.
