About The Position

This full-time position supports and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior. Under the direction of a supervisor, provides general oversight to the daily work flow for an assigned group of Patient Access Registrars, prioritizing the workload and referring problems to the supervisor. Provides input into evaluations and gives routine reports as required. As a working lead, performs the same duties as the team and is responsible for obtaining accurate, pertinent demographic and insurance information prior to services, thus reducing financial risk of third party denials and delayed collection processes for services both at on and off site facilities.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in the use of computer software, ability to operate a copier, fax machine, 10 key calculator and printer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with patients, customers, employees and Senior Leaders. Must demonstrate the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to analyze and determine the type of data needed to complete various types of patient registration functions.
  • Must demonstrate ability to manage time, deadlines, multiple request and priorities, maintain productivity and exercise good judgment with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to apply policies and procedures regarding data security and confidentiality to prevent inappropriate release of patient information.

  • Develops the schedules and plans according to departmental and system policies. Allocates required resources, allows for contingencies and ensures that plans fit with the larger needs of the organization.
  • Ensures appropriate insurance eligibility and authorizations are present prior to or at the time of service. Responsible for the POS collection of patient owed cost sharing amounts (copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and full cost (non-covered, self-pay) prior to or at the time of service. Refers patients to Financial Counselors for Financial Assistance or provides an application, when applicable. Ensures that cash drawer is cashed out appropriately daily.
  • Demonstrates that s/he is an effective team player who adds complementary skills and contributes valuable ideas, opinions and feedback. Communicates in an open and candid manner and can be counted upon to fulfill any commitments made to others on the team. Works effectively in a changing environment; displays a positive work attitude; handles multiple demands and priorities. Provides assistance/mentoring to newer employees’ on more problematic accounts to assist with growth and understanding.
