About The Position

The Patient Access Lead / Trainer plays a vital role in supporting daily operations, staff development, and patient access excellence. This position serves as a subject matter expert, ensuring high standards in customer service, regulatory compliance, and workflow efficiency across registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and authorization processes. This is a great opportunity for someone who is an experienced Patient Access professional, passionate about coaching others, improving workflows, and delivering an exceptional patient experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years of Patient Access experience required
  • Strong knowledge of registration, insurance coverage, verification, and billing processes
  • One of the following certifications required within 18 months of hire: Certified Patient Access Specialist (CPAS), Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR)
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and training abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage complex situations
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Knowledge of patient access systems, workflows, and compliance standards

Responsibilities

  • Supporting front-line staff by answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring workflows run smoothly across registration, scheduling, and eligibility functions.
  • Monitoring work queues and processes, helping prioritize tasks, resolve complex patient access issues, and ensure accurate, timely service delivery.
  • Collaborating closely with leadership to maintain coverage, support operational goals, and enhance overall department performance.
  • Coordinating department specific onboarding for new hires, developing and maintaining training materials, and providing ongoing education to staff related to policies, systems, payer requirements, and workflow updates.
  • Identifying performance gaps and delivering targeted training to strengthen team competency and confidence.
  • Conducting audits, ensuring accuracy of registrations and insurance verification, and promoting adherence to policies, regulatory standards, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Working with clinical teams, revenue cycle, and leadership to communicate updates, support process improvements, and ensure a seamless patient access experience from start to finish.
