The Windham Hospital Emergency Department is open 24/7 to provide care to patients of all ages in a safe, patient-focused environment. The team consists of nurses, physician assistants, APRNs, physicians, patient care technicians and paramedics trained to handle any type of emergency. In addition to the Emergency Department, the Patient Access Department works jointly with such Windham Hospital outpatient departments such as Ambulatory Care Unit, Cardiac Diagnostic Center, Diabetes Education, Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology), One Day Surgery, Pain Management, Pulmonary Laboratory, Women’s Health Services and the Wound Care Center.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word required
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Professional customer service skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and work in a Team environment

Nice To Haves

  • Two years’ experience in hospital medical setting or insurance billing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Registers/Admit patients
  • Obtains, validates and inputs patient demographics and financial information
  • Obtains co-pays and deductibles
  • Obtain insurance authorization for inpatient/outpatient visits and/or procedures
  • Verifies insurance payer information and eligibility benefits
  • Provides assistance with financial applications
  • Ability to handle and close out cash transactions for bank deposit
  • Obtains accurate information and signatures on releases/forms; Scanning
  • Prioritizes patient flow
  • Constant interaction with patients, families, payers and clinical staff in all areas of the Hospital including outpatient clinics
  • Hospital Operator coverage
  • Work various reports as assigned
