About The Position

Inova Loudoun Hospital – Cornwall (Outpatient) is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Associate. This is a full-time position with a Monday–Friday schedule from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM and every other weekend from 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM. The associate supports patient access and outpatient operations by registering patients, verifying identity and insurance, entering demographic and coverage information, handling documents and calls, assisting with routine scheduling and inquiries, and coordinating referrals and other service needs. The role also provides estimates and collects payments, assists with patient kiosks, and helps ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable regulations. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Register patients; verify identity and insurance; collect basic information; enter demographics; and scan forms.
• Scan documents, answer phones, and use electronic medical record (EMR) and eligibility tools.
• Notify case managers and document referrals.
• Provide estimates and collect payments.
• Verify basic insurance eligibility and coverage.
• Answer routine questions and escalate issues.
• Assist patients with check-in at kiosks and troubleshoot basic issues.
• Provide appointment and billing information and communicate with empathy.
• Document and route referrals.
• Schedule routine appointments.
• Request routine transportation and confirm details.
• Flag duplicate records and scan identification in coordination with Health Information Management.
• Flag cases needing review in coordination with Utilization Review.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
