About The Position

The Patient Access Associate registers patients receiving emergency services at Anderson Hospital or urgent services at an Express Care location. The role collects and enters accurate patient demographic and insurance information, completes registration documentation, and collects applicable patient liabilities at the point of service. Associates learn and use multiple software applications related to registration and collections. As front-line employees, they provide excellent customer service and protect patients’ health information privacy. For emergency and EMS patients, the associate initiates and completes registration, records arrival information, obtains demographic and insurance details, creates armbands, scans documentation, confirms the patient’s primary care physician when possible, and obtains required signatures. The associate collects applicable copayments or deposits, following the Presumption Charity Screening process for uninsured patients before collecting an ER deposit. Before an admission registration is completed, the associate reviews applicable Medicare or observation notices and obtains signatures. The role also registers direct hospital and TRC admissions. Express Care duties include receiving patients, collecting admission cards and identification and insurance information, completing registration and forms, adding patients to Tracker, identifying when a patient needs immediate triage, collecting applicable copayments or deposits, and scanning registration and clinical documentation. All associates review EcareNext work lists to address record errors, understand and follow downtime procedures and Patient Access processes, keep current with process changes, and wear the required badge and uniform jacket.
