About The Position

As a Patient Access Associate, you will be instrumental in helping patients check into the hospital at LifePoint Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. This role is fast-paced and requires you to be the primary point of contact for patients, answering their questions during registration. You will build trust by accurately and quickly collecting information, while also listening with compassion to address patient fears, concerns, and questions. The position demands a confident multi-tasker who is quick to learn technology and proficient in typing and answering phones. No prior healthcare experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided, making it an excellent entry point for a healthcare career. You must be prepared to encounter illness and injuries in this hospital/lab environment. The work involves operating computers and phones to intake information in a busy setting, working across multiple screens to input details correctly, and managing interruptions from clinicians for emergent care. You will also be responsible for understanding variations in health plans and coverage through training, and adapting to the unpredictable nature of patient interactions, often while on your feet.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent customer service experience
  • Up to date on all vaccinations
  • Pass a drug test prior to hire
  • Pass a background check prior to hire
  • Confident multi-tasker
  • Quick study with technology
  • Ability to type and answer phones
  • Comfortable working across multiple programs and typing quickly
  • Comfortable working around clinicians interrupting the registration process for emergent clinical care
  • Prepared to see illness and injuries

Responsibilities
