Patient Access Acute Representative I
About The Position
The Patient Access Registration Specialist I provides customer service and facilitates patient registration and scheduling at Intermountain Health. The role collects and enters complete and accurate information, verifies insurance and eligibility, collects co-pays and balances, and follows up on pending issues. The caregiver follows organizational policies and procedures and applicable federal and state privacy and confidentiality regulations. This position is located at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, Colorado. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday from 0800 to 2030, with 24 scheduled weekly hours.
Requirements
- Customer service experience is required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office, the internet, and email, is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Interpersonal skills, customer service, insurance verification, computer literacy, payment processing, medical billing, and problem-solving skills.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience with Epic is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients and visitors courteously and professionally.
- Obtain and verify patient demographic, financial, and insurance information.
- Register and schedule patients for appointments, tests, and procedures.
- Collect and process co-pays, deductibles, and balances due at the time of service.
- Provide information about financial assistance, payment plans, and charity care.
- Explain consent forms, policies, and disclosures and obtain signatures.
- Provide patients with directions, maps, and parking information.
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to support smooth patient flow and quality care.
- Document and update patient records in the electronic health system.
- Follow up on pending issues, including prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.
- Comply with Intermountain Health policies and procedures and applicable privacy and confidentiality regulations.
