About The Position

Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Requirements

• Possession of a baccalaureate degree in health science and one (1) year of professional work experience in public health, health outreach, or health research setting involving the use of computer software for data entry and or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated ability to complete tasks in an effective and timely manner.
• Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist the PI with biospecimen maintenance for the Pathology Core and cyanobacteria/cyanotoxin project
• Collect and prepare pathologic and environmental biospecimens to be reviewed and analyzed for the Pathology Core and cyanobacteria/cyanotoxin project, respectively
• Assists the PI with biospecimen evaluation for the Pathology Core and cyanobacteria/cyanotoxin project
• Other duties as needed
