About The Position

The PA assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this contact must have graduated from a NAACLS-accredited training program for Pathologists’ Assistants and have one (1) year recent Pathologists’ Assistant experience. The employee is expected to examine, dissect and perform gross descriptions on surgical and cytology specimens including small and large complex specimens that arrive fresh, fixed and or in special fixatives for histological processing. Ensure accuracy of patient information and specimen accessioning. Identify special stains based on pertinent clinical history. The employee will also be responsible for gross photography, dissection and performance of frozen section. As part of safety, positively identifies patients prior to sample collection and samples prior to testing or aliquoting. As part of safety and safeguards electronic and paper patient information. Independently tests, evaluates, documents, and reports patient testing and Quality Control (QC); identifies, documents, and resolves any collection, processing, testing or reporting issues. Assures patient-centered care and provides service in a manner that is professional and will avoid complaints from all stakeholders and customers. Performs patient and QC testing according to established protocols and active in the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Proficiency Testing (PT) Program.

Requirements

  • Graduated from a NAACLS-accredited training program for Pathologists’ Assistants.
  • One (1) year recent Pathologists’ Assistant experience.
  • AHA BLS certification.
