About The Position

The Pastoral Resident is on a path of personal growth built on growing skills, engaging in ministry conversations, and having hands-on experience. This includes a combination of training, mentorship, and practical opportunities to discover God's gifting and how to apply it. Pastoral Residents will care for, encourage, and shape others in their faith. Residents are active in all aspects of church staff culture, including meetings, planning, services, and events.

Requirements

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ that results in a life tuned to obedience to God as described in the Scriptures, evident by spiritual fruit and the desire to grow in the Lord
  • Is supportive and loyal to staff members and the church body of Beloved
  • Displays genuine servanthood, faith-centeredness, and spiritual maturity
  • Expresses flexibility, cooperation and teach-ability
  • Exudes a fun outlook on life, easy-going and approachable
  • Embraces the vision, direction and beliefs of The Beloved Church and has a heart for the Kingdom
  • Ability to self-start projects and assignments, thinking ahead and planning accordingly
  • Eager to learn and grow in a ministry environment

  • Preferred education or equivalent experience in a leadership or ministry context

Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings: Weekly (All Staff on Monday afternoons, Staff Prayer on Wednesday mornings); Bi-Weekly (Resident Training, Mentorship)
  • Planning and creating within various settings - vision sessions, church calendar, ministry areas and events, sermon series planning, etc.
  • Learn how areas of ministry operate across our church context
  • Participation and execution of various duties within the weekend worship service
  • Organizing and assisting with Beloved Communities
  • Helping implement strategic opportunities for deeper discipleship at Beloved
  • Implementing new guest pathway for consistent connections into the church body
  • Discipline others in 1:1 situations
  • Continued leadership in prayer/worship (Prayer Room, etc.)
  • Working through Competency trainings to grow skills (Core Leadership, Spiritual Formation, Ministry Passion)
  • Complete Wesleyan Licensing program
  • Readings and study through various books and materials as assigned
  • Engaging in theological and ministry topics related to church life and pastoral focus
  • Regular meetings and conversations with site mentor as well as ministry partners
  • Exposure and networking with various ministry leaders within WEN and the GR area
  • Assigned to specific ministry area within Beloved within targeted passion areas.
  • Direct oversight and execution of ministry to deepen growth and further practical application within Ministry
