First Baptist Church of Greenfield (GFBC) is searching for a Pastor who derives authority from God’s call and functions as a minister of Jesus Christ through the church. The Pastor is entrusted with the gospel, equipped by the Holy Spirit and professional education, and accountable to God, the church, and the denomination. The role involves speaking the truth in love, seeking the mind of Christ, and building the church. The Pastor must possess a definite calling to the ministry, a personal belief in Biblical principles, and the ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate church programs. Key attributes include personal integrity, moral conduct, trustworthiness, and strong interpersonal skills, while continuing in spiritual growth. The Pastor is called to lead the church as a shepherd, valuing each person equally. Administrative authority is structured through boards and committees, with grievances addressed by the Congregational Relations Committee and reported to the Diaconate. The Pastor, with the Board of Deacons, verifies membership qualifications and recommends candidates. The Pastor serves ex-officio on all boards for spiritual guidance and encouragement, attending meetings in a non-voting capacity. The Pastor reports to the Diaconate and is ultimately accountable to Jesus Christ, working closely with and supported by the Board of Deacons, attending monthly meetings with a detailed report. A yearly performance review by the Trustees will determine merit increases based on quantifiable achievements and demonstrated qualities, subject to the Budget committee's approval.
